Hey there, I'm Austyn.
Three years ago, at age 27, I was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. I was 35 weeks pregnant with twins and had a two year old and 4 year old at home. Today I am cancer free and trying to figure out how the heck to live a normal life as a mom of four after a cancer diagnosis. I am passionate about being real about the things I have gone through, being a mom to four young kids, standing up as an advocate of your own health and more importantly encouraging others as they go through the tough things in life. Follow me on social media or check in with my blog as I fumble along.
I'm Erika, the cheese lover behind The Abundant Table. You'll usually find me holding our children (3 yrs and 5 month old) or holding a glass of wine. I've had a passion for all things food for as long as I can remember. Three years ago I put together my first charcuterie spread and fell in love. Since then I've created countless boards for every occasion!
I am thrilled to finally be launching The Abundant Table, a custom cheese and charcuterie delivery. How does it work? Tell me some basic information about the event and any dietary restrictions. I come to your home (or location of the event!), set up a beautiful and delicious spread, and leave! From girls night to weddings and everything in between I'd love to help you celebrate all of life's big and small moments.
I started making candles in the fall of 2018 more for curiosity than anything else. I really enjoy working with my hands, especially baking, and I’ve always loved candles for the calm and comfort they bring to every space. So what started out as a disappointing candle kit from the craft store has led to a personal challenge of making a high quality, clean burning, beautifully scented candle that I feel good about burning in my own home and also giving to others. This winter, Christmas gifts turned into requests for more, and word of mouth has kept the orders coming.
I’m very grateful for the support and encouragement I’ve received in this fun journey...we really have an amazing sense of community in Yakima. All ingredients in ROOTED IN candles are carefully chosen for their high quality and clean burning performance: a combination of organic coconut-soy-beeswax; plant-based and essential oil blends; raw wooden wicks that provide a soothing, soft crackle; phthalate-free; dye-free; paraffin-free; and practical and simple candle jars that are easily repurposed.
To place orders, contact Jen Trammell on Instagram @rootedincandleco (text/email options provided), or through Rooted In Candle Co. Facebook page. Website coming soon! ROOTED IN candles are also sold locally at Johnson’s Orchards, Alexandra’s on Second Salon, and Yakima’s Shipping Shop.
Hi! I’m Gina Prescott, the mom behind the Instagram account Sagebrush Kids.
After being born and raised in Yakima, I returned as a parent eager to create a joy-filled childhood for my kids. As I focused on our valley’s strengths, I realized why Yakima can be a magical place to raise children. With four distinct seasons, Yakima thrives with opportunity for outdoor play. Families can explore high desert, mountains, forests, caves, and rivers. Yakima has a rich food scene. Families can taste award-winning tamales and freshly picked fruit that will be shipped all over the world. Yakima is growing and I continue to discover and rediscover so much beyond my own backyard.
My hope is that Sagebrush Kids can highlight all of the wonderful kid and family-friendly things to do in the Yakima Valley (with a side of children's book recommendations). On Sagebrush Kids, you can find information and tips on how your family can explore, adventure, and rediscover why you love the Yakima Valley. Come follow along!
