One of our favorite things about Yakima is the generosity of spirit and treasure that exists. Likewise, there are so many worthy organizations working hard to make our community a better place for everyone. We want to make it easy to find organizations that inspire you, so we partnered with Sagebrush Kids to create a Give Local List* for the Yakima Valley.
Take a look, reach out and ask how you or your family can help, or head to justserve.org and see if there are any available volunteer opportunities to fill. Also, a donation is an extremely helpful way to help many organizations.
(*The Give Local List is by no means comprehensive. Holler at us here with a nomination or your information.)
Private and Public Schools (💡 Tip: many private schools raise money for scholarships and local public schools often need clothing items like warm coats and gloves.)
Local Churches (💡 Tip: Ask a local religious leader if there are specific needs you can fill.)
Nursing Homes (💡 Tip: Many nursing homes love volunteers and visitors).
Meals on Wheels (💡 Tip: Their Meals on Wheels Pet Program is in need of pet food.)
Heritage University (💡 Tip: Check out their DACA program.)
United Way of Central Washington (💡 Tip: UWCW has multiple initiatives to get involved in to help our community.)
YWCA Yakima (💡 Tip: they provide needed resources for women as well as running a social justice program.)
Cowiche Canyon Conservancy (💡 Tip: lots of Y365 mentions here.)
