When it's Mother's Day weekend

When it's Mother's Day weekend

Eat.

We spied the Soup R Dawgs trailer in the parking lot next door to Fruit City in Union Gap and stopped for a snack. We kinda wish we didn't because now we can't stop thinking about the deliciousness that is Soup R Dawgs.

We ordered Chicago-style dogs. They added a couple of pickled asparagus for some local flare. One bite and we were sold. When we pressed Deb and Stan - owners - on how they serve up the perfect dog (they have three kinds), the only thing they would say is that it was two years of research and local produce from their Fruit City neighbors. Awesome, and we'll be heading back to work our way down the menu.

Pro-tip: go to Pepp'rmint Stick Drive-in for a shake after or before. We won't judge.

Need more Union Gap in your life? We hear you. Here's a list.

Drink.

Meraki Creations has Cocktail Kits for Mother's Day Brunch. Nier the Nook has cocktails to go available (and awesome specials like Lobster Mac and Smoked Prime Rib).

And if cocktails aren't your thing, we vote for a Vita Smoothie at Vida Health Bar.

Shop.

The Dagdagan farmstand (located just before Kyle's Corner, heading south on Lateral A) has all the things: fresh produce, starter plants, potted flowers, pinto beans, honey, peanuts, nice people, and an upgraded register area with plexiglass. They are super stocked for Mother's Day weekend. We are on the hunt for pepper plants and they have them ALL.

Bonus: the drive down Lateral A is a beauty.

Learn.

Free, live line dancing lessons online, hosted by Nick and Rene. Get yourself in tip-top shape for when the real thing can happen at the Wenas Creek Saloon. Since no one is looking, we are so giving this a try.

Art+.

We are great admirers of Aislinn of watered.down.art. Her IG feed is dreamy and if you are on the lookout for a special Mother's Day card, you might still be able to score one from the McIlrath curbside pickup. Check out Aislinn's online store and order yourself some stickers, cards, or an illustration. Or, just admire her work.
