Hi Yakima –
It's been a minute. Or two.
We're still here, loving our valley and all of you from our homes. And like many of you, we have lost track of time. Recently, we had a text message convo that started with, "Um, when was the last time I saw you IRL?" To which the response was 🤷.
It's been strange times. A little surreal, too. Like - it is really already October? Wasn’t it just June? Anyway…we’re going to do our best to pull ourselves out of our COVID time-warp and be back in regular touch.
Two updates.

First, it is voting season! Ballots are arriving on or around Friday, October 16th. And nothing says I Heart Yakima like voting. Of course, we have a big election coming, but every year, something is in motion and the best way to show your love for the community is to be engaged with your VOTE at the local, state, and federal levels.
We love voting so much, we teamed up with the wonderful folks at Hogback Development to create TWO special edition Vote Yakima* shirts (we’re pretty pumped that all proceeds go to the Henry Beauchamp Center, too). You can buy them online or stop by Yakima's Ship Shop for immediate purchase!
Get a shirt. Spread the word to get out the vote! Check with your friends, family, and neighbors alike to make sure they've confirmed their registration and they know how to vote. We've included some of our fave resources and dates below to help you out.

Second, we are saying good bye to our Facebook page. We have loved our Facebook community since the beginning of IHY and we are grateful for its role in spreading the good word of Yakima, but Facebook has changed and so have we. (If you haven’t watched The Social Dilemma on Netflix, we highly recommend).
Not to worry, you are on our mailing list so you will always be kept-up-to-date with our local love. You can also follow us on Instagram where we do on-the-fly things. Like, did you know that over the summer, we dabbled in video and started IHYTV on Instagram? You can check it out here.
We love hearing from you. Write us, send us a video, tell us what you're loving, send us pics of you voting, send us tips on businesses you are hearting.

The Yakima Valley has 120,947 registered voters. For the 2020 Primary Election, we had a 44% turnout. Let's get more out for the General Election!

Important Dates
- Washington State ballots arrive on or around Friday, October 16th.
- The last day to register to vote via mail is Monday, October 26th.
- The last day to register AND vote in-person is Tuesday, November 3rd.

Voter Checklist
- Register to vote here.
- Confirm your voter registration, including your address here.
- Check out a preview of a sample ballot so you are in the know.
- Download and review your voters' guide here so you know how you will vote before your ballot arrives.
- Complete your ballot and drop it in the mail or at a county ballot box by Tuesday, November 3rd.
- Confirm with your friends, neighbors, and family that they are registered to vote and they have everything they need to vote.
