"Equality" mural in Front Street shop Wildjay

We are loving the "Equality" mural in Front Street shop Wildjay. The mural, created by 21-year-old Esmeralda Vasquez, will be up in the shop until the end of the year. Then Wildjay owner Jadira Amaya will commission another mural that represents empowerment. Go visit Jadira (“Yadi”), check out the mural, and peruse her darling clothing shop. After, hop on over to Crafted, Norms, or Gilbert Cellars for some refreshments. Or, use our Downtown Guide to find a brand-new spot you haven’t visited yet. Support local, y’all.

Yakima Fans

Robert Rivers and Fernanda Menna Barreto Krum, owners of Imagine Nation Brewing Company in Missoula, MT came to the Valley to pick up their hops from Carpenter Ranches for their 2019 fresh hop brew. While only here for 72 hours, they ate all the food, drank the beer, and soaked in the sun. We sent them on the road with hugs, carne from Los Amigos, a magnum of Gilbert Rosé, and trunk full of produce from Dagdagan Farms. In between smelling hops they both exclaimed, "Yakima's got SOUL. We'll be back for more. We need to try out pupusas, check out the flyfishing, and do some wine tasting."

We so agree Robert and Fernanda. Come back, we've got more to show off!!

Gilbert Cellars’ Music in the Vines

Imagine golden sunshine warming your face and the scent of lavender wafting in the air. Cue the sounds of talented bands, local wine hitting your lips, and the beauty of orchards filling your view. This is your senses exploding at Gilbert Cellars’ Music in the Vines concerts. Now in its ninth year, it is a do-not-miss summer in Yakima experience! If you’re among the converted, you’ll be sure to get your season tickets long before the first day of summer and the winery’s first concert on June 21. (Photo Cred: Gilbert Cellars)

The Patios

What better way to prolong the Yakima sunshine than to grab a drink or dinner on one of our town’s fine patios? Sip a greyhound at Gasperetti’s, grab a beer with friends at Sports Center (reopening in late June!), or take the family for a night out under the umbrellas at Second Street Grill. Don’t forget Front Street alfresco spots Gilbert Cellars and Antolin Cellars, and if you’re out in West Valley, Apple Tree’s patio overlooking the golf course does not disappoint. Cheers! Spring Barrel Weekend

Spring Barrel weekend is the high holiday of Spring in the Yakima Valley. Your instinct might say “avoid the crowds,” but you can craft a lovely local outing with a concise plan in hand. On Sunday, pick two wineries no further than 10 minutes apart, double check their operating hours, and arrive at your first stop around 1pm. Enjoy this well-balanced itinerary and return home to stock your cellar. (Photo Cred: Gilbert Cellars
