A tip from our heart to yours: If you have an e-reader or listen to books on your tiny devices, the Yakima Valley Library has a wonderful e-library available right from your web browser or mobile device. All you need is a library card. Learn more here.
A tip from our heart to yours: Stop by the YMCA and ask about how your health insurance can possibly cover or supplement your membership fee. We were surprised that we qualified for a discount at not only the Y, but other local gyms like Volution, Achieve, Pro-Motion Functional Fitness, and more. Get ahead of the New Year's resolutionists!
P.S. If you have not yet joined or toured the new Y, stop by. The new facility is a fantastic addition to our community. We especially enjoy seeing all the kids using the basketball courts and pools.
A tip from our heart to yours: Suntides Golf Course Restaurant and Lounge has a tasty, super casual breakfast, along with a mellow, sun-drenched deck. This fall, we are eating breakfast there before our Greenway bike rides and runs. Pro-tip: we park behind McIlrath produce stand and pick up their locally-sourced meat, bread, and produce on our way home so we have something for dinner. Map 📍 here.

A tip from our heart to yours: if you are looking for some fresh fish, give Provisions a call. Speak to a manager and ask them what Chef Lindsay is ordering and see if you can get in on that action. If she's got it, she'll sell it to you.

Located in the back of the Rocky Mart, Pupuseria Las Palmas serves up hot, yummy pupusas, the under-promoted Honduran/Salvadorantreat. We tried the chicharrón and frijol con queso. Wowsa. Get a couple and dress them up with homemade curtido and ENJOY. Also, you cannot find this place on the world wide web which tickles us! IHY tip: if pupusas are new to you, head over to Don Mateo in Tieton to further indulge.

Rocky Mart Indian Food wins on so many levels. First, you don’t know they have Indian food until you’re paying for your gas and snacks. (On the pillar next to the register, there is a modest 8x10 menu.) There are only a few dishes, and we suggest having a party and ordering them all for folks to try. Get extra naan. Second, owner and chef, Tina Kaur, calls you hon and takes such sweet care of you and the food, you’ll want to hug her. Lastly, hot naan + lentils + basmati rice = LOVE.

More than a few strangers and friends recommended the teriyaki at the Texaco by the airport. It did not disappoint. It's comfort food to-the-max, and they clearly have a following. Crystal runs the front, and she knows her customers and their orders when they walk-in. We heart the spicy chicken teriyaki and wanted to try the yakisoba, but they sold out so we'll have to go back. 🤷♀️ IHY tip: call in your order before to ensure you get what you're craving.

When the shade isn't enough, add a frosé (with a cab topper) to the mix. Second Street informed us on IG (thank you social media) that this is their new thing on their dog-friendly, shaded patio. We had to try. Sure enough, we were crushing pretty fast. It's not on the menu yet so just ask your nice server to hook you up. If you're tempted to order a second, we suggest heading over to AntoLin to try out their wine smoothie, mixed to taste. It's next-level frozen wine. Cheers! (Photo Cred: IHY)

Antojitos’ breakfast. Even if you’re a regular at this local joint, what you may not know is that they have one of the most primo breakfasts in town, perhaps even the state. The chilaquiles are lights out, eggs are cooked to order, burritos are bigger than your head, and you can pour all those flavorful salsas on everything. Go eat some eggs wrapped in a tortilla for me, will ya?
