Cherry bomb 🍒 (#010)

'Tis the season for the cherry pitter and summer adventures. Are you Team Rainier or Bing?! Find your favorites at Johnson Orchards, and while you’re there, pick up a clean-burning, locally-made candle that we’re crushing on. Next, we’d suggest packing up your favorite sweet morsels and heading out to Tieton to see what's new, or chase down the valley's youngest ice cream maker at one of her stops.

And we have a little Team IHY news for you. We’ve been busy working on a new project, code name: Y365 We’re getting ready to launch this cutie out in the world. Since you are an IHY insider, you get exclusive first access. (THANK YOU for subscribing.) Prevent FOMO for the friend who is not yet on our subscriber list and forward them this email. We are pumped to expand and spread our local love.

spicy & sunny: #IHYSummertime (#009)

As Will Smith used to say, where there's an air of love and happiness, that means it’s summertime! Whether you’re grilling at home, grabbing drinks on a patio or meeting friends at an outdoor concert, Yakima truly shines for the season.

This year is a special one, since summer will be starting off with the first ever Virgina Mason Memorial Downtown Yakima Mile on June 8th. Will you be running? Spectating? Either way, we can't wait to see all the Yaki-love at full sprint.  We’re also proud to be a sponsor of the Yakima Pride Festival, also happening this Saturday…

Better together (#008)

Spring may be moody, but we are not. Our local hearts are full, no matter where the sun is hanging out. Our amazing valley made of collaborative makers, orgs, and businesses makes it easy peasy to crush. This week we highlight a one-stop produce standbeer that grows community, and the 1855 treaty we honor.

Speaking of honor, Memorial Day weekend is coming up. If you’re looking for something special for your loved ones, we highly recommend a trip out to Adeline’s Peonies in Toppenish.

Simply buzzing (#007)

Well, Mother Nature is sure putting on a show for us. Perhaps as payback from the longest winter ever? Speaking of mothers – we have a couple of ideas for yours (Mother’s Day is Sunday!). For the gardener, bee lover, wine lover, or flower lover in your life, local is the way to go. Isn’t it amazing that we have so many incredible local businesses that we can love on while we show our moms love too?

Journey to Oz (#006)

To borrow a phrase from a friend, this is time when Yakima goes from "Kansas to Oz," and boy are we glad. This week, Jessica shares her favorite spring hike, tips to enjoy Spring Barrel away from the crowds, and the upcoming festival that you should not miss. Scroll to the bottom, and you'll be rewarded with a coupon code to register for the Downtown Yakima Mile, your #IHYinstacrush, and save-the-dates for ways to put those ever increasing daylight hours to work.

Born to Run (#004)

It’s always exciting when something new comes to town. Especially something that not only impacts individuals, but also has the power to elevate Yakima in a unique and different way. The Virginia Mason Downtown Yakima Mile does exactly this, and we’re proud to partner with them.

There’s a national movement to “Bring back the mile,” and The Downtown Yakima Mile is one of the flagship events, wooing elite athletes and sponsors alike to our town. But we especially love this race…

We've got that YAK feelin (#003)

An essential part of “hearting” Yakima is celebrating what makes Yakima unique. Nothing fits the bill quite like our hop industry. Thanks to breweries like Bale Breaker, we now have a thriving beer scene as well. Which is why we’re super excited to partner with Bale Breaker on a new hat that celebrates local love. Preorder it below!

Bale Breaker is a great example of the kind of business that we love to partner with: inclusive, innovative, generous and collaborative.
