Union Gap Corn Maze & Pumpkin Patch

Looking for some good, clean Halloween fun? It doesn’t get much better than the Union Gap Corn Maze & Pumpkin Patch. Our teen just spent five hours out there, had a blast, and didn’t get into any trouble. Best parts? While it’s family-friendly, the maze turns “scary” after 7pm, so be prepared to maybe scream a time or two. You can also rent campfire spots and watch the creepy movies they play. The Sixth Sense was up when the teen was there. He even said he’ll go again. If that’s not an endorsement, we don’t know what is. Bonus: it’s right by Jean’s Cottage Inn, which has a bit of a following. The tasty steaks are a deal and burgers are good.

McIlrath Family Farms

McIlrath Family Farms is crushing the local collaboration game. We especially dig how their 100% organic produce is used in other local businesses’ products. Our fave example: McIlrath’s asparagus are pickled by Nana Kate’s who also makes baked goods with McIlrath’s well-loved fruit. At their two locations right off the Greenway, they also stock adored valley brands like Jhars European SausageZagelow BeefaloImbrock’s honeyBuhrmaster Baking Co, and more. Truly, they are a one stop local love shop. And they deliver!

Adeline’s Peonies

Memorial Day weekend is coming up. If you’re looking for something special for your loved ones, we highly recommend a trip out to Adeline’s Peonies in Toppenish. We had the opportunity to visit the farm recently and fell in love with everything about it, from owners Jay and Pat McCarthy and their vision, to their tutorial on how they harvest thousands of our favorite flowers. Our friends at Rooted wrote a fantastic post on them if you’d like to dig deep into their history.

Instar Natural’s Pollinate Plus

We don’t have to wax poetic about the importance of bees and pollinators to our valley. Without them, we’d all be…well, you know. So, Instar Natural’s Pollinate Plus box for home gardeners is a HUGE HIT with us. This cute little box ($20) has everything you need to encourage bees to visit your garden. And this local business gives 5% of purchases to community schools and gardens. Get a box for your blooms online, or at Johnson’s Orchards. (Photo Cred: Instar Naturals)
