Yakima YWCA

The YWCA Yakima marks its 110th year in the Valley this year, proving their expert ability to adapt to the community around them. What started as a hostel for young women traveling solo, is now dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all. It is the “largest provider of domestic violence services in central Washington,” and a powerful force in creating a safer community for each of us. It's a unique and invaluable resource for the Yakima Valley.

An Apple a Day at Allan Bros.

Did you know that an apple bin can hold 2200 apples? We sure didn’t. In fact, for two ladies who grew up in Yakima with orchards surrounding our childhood homes, we knew an embarrassingly small amount about apple harvest at all. Thankfully, we met some really great peeps at Allan Bros. who took us on an sweet tour of their orchards while Gala harvest was in full-swing. (…)

Feature: Born to Run

We love it when people turn their passions into something new that lifts up our community.

Take Yakima natives and former high-school track rivals Erik Mickelson and Chris Waddle, for example. They dreamed of bringing an elite mile road race, with national class elite runners, to town. Over the last year, their dream has been made real, and their vision is clear: The Virginia Mason Memorial Downtown Yakima Mile.

*Please note, our partnership with the Yakima Mile is 99% love and 1% in-kind sponsorship.

Feature: Bale Breaker

An essential part of “hearting” Yakima is celebrating what makes Yakima unique. Nothing fits the bill quite like our hop industry. Thanks to breweries like Bale Breaker, we now have a thriving beer scene as well. Which is why we’re super excited to partner with Bale Breaker on a new hat that celebrates local love. Preorder it below!

Bale Breaker is a great example of the kind of business that we love to partner with: inclusive, innovative, generous and collaborative.
